Ukraine holds talks with Raytheon and Diehl Defence on advancing air defence capabilities

During meetings in Berlin with representatives of Raytheon and Diehl Defence, Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Mykhailo Fedorov, discussed the development of air defence projects.
Cooperation with Raytheon, manufacturer of the Patriot system
In particular, the Defence Minister held meetings with Pete Bata, Senior Vice President of Raytheon. The parties discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defence, including the supply of missiles for Patriot systems, F-16 aircraft, and NASAMS systems.
Mykhailo Fedorov thanked the company for the solutions it has provided, particularly the Patriot systems, which have already protected and continue to protect the lives of Ukrainians. The parties reviewed measures to increase capabilities for intercepting russian ballistic missiles.
Particular attention was given to the implementation of agreements reached during meetings in Germany and to prospects for rapid scaling up of supplies of modern air defence systems.
The parties also discussed the maintenance and repair of Raytheon systems in service with Ukraine.
Missile supplies for IRIS-T and the development of joint projects
Mykhailo Fedorov also met with Helmut Rauch, Chief Executive Officer of Diehl Defence. The parties discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defence, including the supply of missiles for IRIS-T systems, as well as options to accelerate and scale up deliveries.

Mykhailo Fedorov thanked the company for the solutions it has provided and for the equipment already in service with Ukraine, which has proven its effectiveness in combat conditions.
Particular attention was given to preparations for the upcoming winter period and to the need to further strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s skies.
F-16 armaments and testing in Ukraine
The parties also discussed the status of projects related to missile armament for F-16 aircraft, as well as opportunities to test new solutions in Ukraine.
Ammunition supplies and counter-ballistic solutions
A particular focus was placed on the supply of extended-range ammunition. A European Union loan could be one of the funding sources for these supplies.

In addition, the parties discussed developing joint projects in radar systems, counter-ballistic solutions, and integrating Diehl Defence products with other partners’ systems.
