Ukraine and Denmark strengthen cooperation in defence production and the development of anti-ballistic solutions

Ukraine and Denmark are deepening their defence partnership across areas critical to the Defence Forces. These include the procurement of Ukrainian drones and interceptor systems, the localisation of production in Denmark, the development of air defence capabilities, and support for Ukraine’s missile capabilities.
Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Mykhailo Fedorov, held a conversation with Denmark’s Minister of Defence, Troels Lund Poulsen. The parties discussed next steps in their cooperation to help Ukraine maintain the initiative across all domains of warfare.
Procuring drones for Ukraine and scaling up the ‘Danish model’
A key focus of the discussion was the procurement of Ukrainian-made drones, including interceptors, for the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
During the discussion, the parties explored ways to scale up the successful ‘Danish model’ for supporting the defence industry.
This approach enables partners to finance weapons production directly in Ukraine. Since 2024, this mechanism has helped secure approximately $3 billion for the production of Ukrainian weapons, including more than 200,000 UAVs, thousands of electronic warfare (EW) systems, Ukrainian missiles, and other armaments.
Ukraine is counting on further scaling up procurement under the ‘Danish model’, which will help deliver capabilities to the front more quickly while continuing to invest in Ukraine’s defence industry.
At the same time, Mykhailo Fedorov called for additional assistance to be allocated as soon as possible ahead of the next Ramstein-format meeting in June to support the continued implementation of Ukraine’s defence strategy.

Localising production in Denmark
The parties also discussed steps to establish new localised production in Denmark for the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
This forms part of a win-win partnership: Ukraine gains additional capabilities for the battlefield, while Denmark gains access to solutions proven in modern warfare.
The parties also discussed the prospects for a Drone Deal between Ukraine and Denmark. The initiative is expected to simplify the exchange of technologies and defence products, while accelerating the implementation of joint projects involving unmanned systems and other armaments.

Another topic of discussion was Denmark’s support for expanding Ukraine’s missile production capacity.
Anti-ballistic project and strengthening air defence
Another key area of cooperation is the development of air defence and preparations for Ukraine’s own anti-ballistic project.
Ukraine proposed that Denmark join the initiative, including by providing radar systems that could be an important component of the future solution.
Mykhailo Fedorov expressed gratitude to Denmark for its consistent support and personally thanked Troels Lund Poulsen for his leadership and unwavering support.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Mykhailo Fedorov, met with Members of Congress Richard Blumenthal and Jim Himes to discuss defence support for Ukraine.
