The Defence Forces’ fleet of kamikaze drones has been reinforced with a new model

The Ministry of Defence has codified and authorized the Ukrainian-made ‘Svitlovod’ unmanned aerial FPV system for operational use within the units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the MoD’s Main Directorate for Support of the Life Cycle of Weapons and Military Equipment.
The “Svitlovod” drones are engineered with a robust frame, powerful engines, and lightweight energy-dense batteries. These “birds” feature a fiber-optic control channel and can deliver a combat payload over distances of several dozen kilometers. The drones are equipped with automatic target detection and recognition systems. Depending on the configuration, they can be fitted with either day or night cameras.
The “Svitlovod” system can be deployed into a combat position in just a few minutes.
Since the beginning of 2025, over 60 unmanned aerial systems with fiber-optic control channels have been authorized for operational use in the military.
A reminder to defense equipment manufacturers: helpful information on the procedure for codifying new models of weapons and military equipment is available here.
