17 air defense assets and 30 command posts hit: results of middle-strike operations in August
In August 2026, the Defence Forces of Ukraine continued their systematic middle-strike campaign against the enemy’s operational rear areas and military-economic potential.
Last month, the following targets were hit:
- 17 air defense assets;
- 6 bridges;
- more than 20 depots;
- more than 30 command posts.
At the President’s direction, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine are systematically working to intensify strikes into the enemy’s operational depth.
Every destroyed radar, air defense system, and electronic warfare system clears the way for strikes against the enemy’s deep rear. Destroyed bridges mean disrupted logistics. Hit depots and command posts mean reduced combat readiness for enemy units.
The Ministry of Defence provides details on the enemy targets struck by the Defence Forces using middle-strike capabilities last month.
Destroying russian air defenses
In August, efforts to destroy russian air defenses continued to ensure the unimpeded operation of Ukrainian strike assets.
Positions of russian air defense systems were hit, including S-400 Triumf SAM systems in Gelendzhik and in Bryansk Oblast, Pantsir systems in Yeysk, Tor systems in Rostov Oblast, Buk-M3 systems in Luhansk Oblast, and Strela-10 systems in Kreminna.
Several radar systems were destroyed, including a long-range Nebo-U radar in Sevastopol, as well as Nebo-SV, Kasta, and Podlyot radars. Electronic warfare systems were also destroyed, including a Peresvet-M system in Luhansk.
Disrupting russian logistics and supply
The Defence Forces of Ukraine continued their systematic strikes against russian logistics arteries. Strikes hit the Syvash railway bridge in the Chonhar area, railway bridges near Vladyslavivka and Svitlodolynske, as well as road bridges over the Seim River in Kursk Oblast and the Molochna River in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. A crossing over the Mokri Yaly River in Donetsk Oblast was also hit.
In addition to infrastructure targets, the Defence Forces of Ukraine struck more than 20 depots storing materiel and ammunition, as well as repair bases in the temporarily occupied territories and border regions of russia.
Striking enemy UAV infrastructure and command posts
In August, russian sites associated with the use of unmanned systems and naval craft continued to be systematically identified and struck.
A base for unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in Chornomorske was hit. More than 30 strikes were also carried out against command posts, storage sites, and launch sites for attack UAVs, including in Bryansk Oblast, Donetsk Oblast, and Crimea.
Several ground-based relays used to control Geran/Gerbera attack UAVs were disabled, weakening the enemy’s ability to coordinate drone attacks.
Middle-strike capabilities hit russian military command posts, including the main and alternate command posts in Donetsk, an FSB unit in Shchaslyvtseve, and a UAV training center in Luhansk.
The systematic use of middle-strike capabilities enables Ukraine to steadily reduce russia’s military potential and undermines the resilience of the enemy’s command and control system.
As previously reported, in July the Defence Forces of Ukraine used middle-strike capabilities to hit 14 railway and road bridges and overpasses, as well as pontoon crossings.
