Infantry arsenal supplemented with new weapons, ammunition, and optical devices

Арсенал піхотинців поповнився новими зразками озброєння, боєприпасів та оптичних засобів

In the first half of 2025, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine codified a number of new domestically manufactured infantry weapons. This was reported by the MoD’s Main Directorate for Support of the Life Cycle of Weapons and Military Equipment.

First and foremost, these are new models of small arms and grenade launchers. In particular, three domestically produced modifications of 12-gauge smoothbore pump-action shotguns have been approved for operational usein the military. As auxiliary weapons, they are particularly suitable for infantry operating in dense urban environments or narrow trench systems. During the russian-Ukrainian war, pump-action shotguns have demonstrated their effectiveness as a countermeasure against enemy kamikaze drones.

The infantry arsenal has also been reinforced with a new 40 mm automatic grenade launcher developed in Ukraine.

Other codified models produced by Ukrainian weapons manufacturers include new types of ammunition for large-calibre machine guns, sniper rifles and assault rifles, and grenade launchers of both NATO and Soviet calibres. The list also features a range of optical devices for infantry weapons, including thermal imaging sights for small arms and large-calibre machine guns. Additionally, new demining toolshave been introduced, allowing Ukrainian service members to detect and mark explosive ordnance.
