Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Brigadier General Anatolii Klochko: In January, the Ministry of Defence adopted nearly 130 new models of weapons and military equipment
In January 2025, the Ministry of Defence codified and approved approximately 130 new weapons and military equipment models for use in the Defence Forces, with nearly 100 being made domestically.
In January 2024, fewer than fifty weapons and military equipment models were codified, with approximately 20 of them being produced in Ukraine.
“Considering the high intensity of combat operations on the front lines, our warriors require a broader array of weapons. There is a need for more innovative strike capabilities to expand the operational capacity of our warriors on the battlefield. Domestic weapon manufacturers quickly address contemporary demands, increase production volumes, and create state-of-the-art weapon models. Notable progress is particularly evident in developing unmanned systems of various types and purposes—air, ground, sea, and electronic warfare,” stated Brigadier General Anatolii Klochko, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
Among the weapons and military equipment models codified since the beginning of 2025, unmanned aerial systems make up the largest portion—nearly forty models. These include drones with a fiber-optic control channel.
The list of codified weapons and military equipment in January 2025 also includes over 20 types of military vehicles serving various purposes. Furthermore, it encompasses ammunition, rear-echelon equipment, and ground-based robotic systems. Certain models of equipment for engineering and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) units have also been authorized for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The list of foreign weapons codified for the Defence Forces encompasses various small arms from leading arms producers in Europe and the U.S., as well as grenade launchers, specialized vehicles, and more.
