Ukrainian service members train to counter enemy UAVs using “Chaika” and “Flyswatter” (“Muhobiyka”) electronic simulators
In modern warfare, the ability to counter enemy drones is critically important. To train for defeating FPV drones and “Lancet” and “Shahed” loitering munitions, the Defence Forces of Ukraine use electronic simulators, among other tools. These systems ensure safe training and help conserve ammunition.
The Ministry of Defence has already authorized several such systems for operational use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the “Chaika” and “Chaika-M” simulators (the latter also known as “Muhobiyka”).
These simulators allow service members to practice using the Igla and Stinger MANPADS and the DShK and M2 heavy machine guns, as well as small arms, to engage aerial targets.
During training, aerial target attack profiles are simulated at different altitudes, angles, ranges, and speeds, accurately modeling real combat scenarios.
This training enables service members to quickly assess a situation and effectively employ weapons against aerial targets. After completing the training, the most skilled participants can shoot down not only UAVs but even cruise missiles.
