Ukraine and Lithuania are launching Brave Lithuania — a joint grant program to support the development of defense technologies and innovative solutions. The program is designed to strengthen cooperation between the defense innovation ecosystems of Ukraine and Lithuania and accelerate the development and deployment of technologies that address the evolving needs of modern warfare.
Priority areas: from drones to artificial intelligence
The program will focus on supporting Ukrainian and Lithuanian developments in priority defense tech areas, including unmanned systems, electronic warfare solutions, artificial intelligence, communications systems, and other technologies that address the current needs of modern warfare. The key objective of Brave Lithuania is to accelerate the creation and deployment of innovative solutions for the Defense Forces of Ukraine, as well as to strengthen cooperation between the defense ecosystems of the two countries.
Signing of the Letter of Intent at the NATO-Ukraine Defence Innovators Forum
The signing of the Letter of Intent on the launch of the program took place with the participation of Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko and Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Inga Ruginiene. The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Serhii Boiev and Vice Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania Vitalija Zumeriene.
The program will also include joint activities for developers aimed at identifying new technological solutions and fostering partnerships between Ukrainian and Lithuanian innovators.
On the Ukrainian side, the program will be implemented by Brave1, Ukraine’s government defense technology cluster.
The signing took place on June 1 during the second NATO–Ukraine Defence Innovators Forum in Vilnius, organized by NATO, the Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania, and Brave1.
Brave Lithuania will become another step toward building an international network of defense innovation that will help accelerate the development of technologies for the frontline, strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, and enhance the security of European partners.
As previously reported, in Kyiv, Minister of Defence of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov and Federal Minister of Defence of Germany Boris Pistorius signed a Letter of Intent to launch Brave Germany, a joint program for the development of defense technologies and support for innovative start-ups. The program provides grant support to Ukrainian and German start-ups operating in critical defense technology areas.
