Ukraine and Denmark deepen defence cooperation: Drone Deal, anti-ballistic capabilities, and new contributions to the Defence Forces of Ukraine

Ukraine and Denmark are advancing their defence partnership in several key areas, including financing Ukrainian defence production, developing anti-ballistic capabilities, military training, and securing additional resources for the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
The topics were discussed during a meeting in Kyiv between Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Mykhailo Fedorov, and Denmark’s Minister of Defence, Jeppe Bruus.

Denmark's timely and high-quality support
Mykhailo Fedorov thanked Denmark for its steadfast support for Ukraine and its contributions to key defence priorities.
These include support for the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), the ‘Czech initiative’, and the successful implementation of the ‘Danish model’.
Particular recognition was given to Denmark’s role in the transfer of F-16 fighter aircraft to Ukraine. This represents an important contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s air capabilities.
Mykhailo Fedorov further thanked Denmark for its swift decision to redirect funding from short-range artillery to extended-range artillery ammunition. This is an example of flexible support that responds to the evolving needs of the frontline.
Another important area of cooperation is the modernisation of a training centre for Ukrainian warriors. Denmark continues to support this project, which helps improve the quality of training for Ukrainian military personnel.
Drone Deal and innovation cooperation
The parties discussed implementing the Drone Deal agreement between Ukraine and Denmark.

Ukraine stands ready to share with its partners the experience and innovations that have proven effective on the battlefield. This forms the basis of a win-win partnership: Ukraine gains additional capabilities for the frontline, while Denmark benefits from access to Ukraine’s combat experience, data, and cutting-edge defence technologies.
The parties also explored opportunities to launch joint innovation programmes supporting security and defence startups in both countries.
European anti-ballistic project
Another important area of cooperation is a joint anti-ballistic project.

Ukraine is counting on the support of Denmark and other partners in developing a European solution to counter ballistic threats.
During the Danish delegation’s meeting with Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for European Integration Sergiy Boyev, the parties also discussed the possibility of unlocking European Peace Facility (EPF) funding for additional contributions to Ukraine’s defence.
The funding amounts to €6 billion, which could be directed towards the critical needs of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
Strengthening cooperation with Denmark will contribute to the more effective achievement of Ukraine’s defence strategy objectives. These include protecting Ukraine's skies and stopping the enemy on the ground.
