Ukraine and Canada strengthen cooperation in air defense systems and drone technologies

During a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format), Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov met with Canadian Minister of National Defence Bill Blair.
The primary focus of the talks was enhancing Ukraine's air defense system. Specifically, the parties discussed supplying the Ukrainian military with interceptor missiles for NASAMS systems. The Ukrainian Defence Minister highlighted the pressing need to enhance air defense capabilities in response to continuous russian missile strikes and extensive Iranian drone attacks.
Particular focus was placed on cooperation in advancing unmanned technologies. The discussions covered opportunities for joint drone production and the exchange of technological expertise between Ukraine and Canada. Both parties agreed to proceed with outlining the details of future projects.
Rustem Umerov thanked Canada for its steadfast support of Ukraine despite the other challenges confronting the international community. He also emphasized the importance of the recently announced support package for Ukraine's defense industry, worth 100 million Canadian dollars, based on the ‘Danish Model.’
“I look forward to further strengthening our partnership and seeking new opportunities for cooperation,” said the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
