Ukraine and Bulgaria expand cooperation in drones and ammunition production

Ukraine and Bulgaria will further strengthen cooperation in developing unmanned technologies, countering drones, and manufacturing ammunition to meet the needs of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
Cooperation in unmanned systems and counter-drone capabilities
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, and the Minister of Defence of Bulgaria, Atanas Zapryanov, discussed opportunities for joint production of unmanned aerial systems, as well as technological solutions to counter drones. Cooperation may develop both at the governmental level and between companies from the two countries.
In particular, the discussion focused on implementing joint projects within the Brave1 defense innovation cluster, as well as on testing solutions in real warfare conditions in Ukraine.
Ukraine today has a unique experience in developing a system capable of intercepting large numbers of enemy drones and is prepared to share this experience through mutually beneficial partnerships.
Defense support and international instruments

Mykhailo Fedorov expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for its support, including its contribution to the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) program, which enables the provision of critical air defense capabilities to Ukraine.
The parties also discussed opportunities for cooperation within SAFE, a European mechanism for implementing defense industry projects.
Advancement of ammunition production
Ukraine and Bulgaria agreed to strengthen cooperation in the production and supply of ammunition types that are critically required for the Defence Forces.
Cooperation will focus on increasing manufacturing capacity and expanding supply.
