The Ministry of Defence is initiating long-term contracts with Ukrainian arms manufacturers

Довгострокові контракти дають змогу виробникам планувати свою роботу, залучати інвестиції та розвивати технології

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine hosted a meeting with Ukrainian arms manufacturers. The main focus was on discussing the potential for signing three-year contracts, which will ensure stability in production, foster the development of the defense sector, and enhance the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“In coordination with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, we have identified a range of priority models of Ukrainian weaponry and military equipment. This weaponry is of critical importance for the Ukrainian army in gaining a battlefield advantage. The signing of long-term contracts with weaponry manufacturers is aimed at ensuring the reliable supply of these essential weapons,” said First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk.

The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing domestic manufacturers in supplying the army with essential weapons and equipment.

“Long-term contracts enable manufacturers to plan their operations, attract investment, and advance technologies. The Ministry of Defence's procurement agency has already signed contracts totaling UAH 208 billion with Ukrainian manufacturers. In particular, these funds are used to procure artillery systems, ammunition, anti-tank missile systems, mortars, mortar rounds, armored fighting vehicles, trucks, electronic warfare equipment, heavy drone bombers, and more for the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” emphasized Glib Kanevskyi, Director of the Defence Ministry's Procurement Policy Department.

The Ministry of Defence has already compiled a list of weapons based on the needs and priorities set by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The necessary criteria have been taken into account, particularly the requirement for the manufacturer to complete the codification procedure, have serial production in place, and achieve a localization rate of at least 50%.

The Ministry of Defence continues working on defense procurement reform, implementing effective mechanisms of cooperation with Ukrainian manufacturers to ensure the military has everything needed to defend the country.
