The Ministry of Defence has adopted 10 combat helmet models designed to the highest international standards
As of February 2025, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has approved 10 reference samples of combat ballistic helmets that meet the highest international protection standards for use in the Armed Forces and the State Special Transport Service. All of them provide level 1 protection.
“Last year, under the Ministry of Defence’s budget program, the Armed Forces received over 168,000 helmets valued at UAH 1.2 billion. The clearly defined reference samples of personal protective gear, including helmets, ensure high quality, fast logistics, and competitive procurement from Ukrainian manufacturers,” explained Glib Kanevskyi, Director of the Defence Ministry's Procurement Policy Department.
The approved models include:
- 6 full-size helmets
- 4 high-cut helmets
The helmets were provided by eight Ukrainian manufacturers, with two supplied by a foreign company from Bulgaria. In addition, two other foreign manufacturers, whose products have successfully passed military (experimental) tests, are currently undergoing laboratory testing to obtain reference sample status for their products.
The technical specifications for three types of covers have also been approved. These include:
- Cover for a full-size helmet
- Cover for a high-cut helmet
- Winter (camouflage) cover
All combat helmets can be fitted with modern mounting systems for the following purposes:
- Mounts for a thermal imager or a night vision device;
- Side mounting rails for a flashlight or headphones.
The Ministry of Defense continues to reform the system of supplying the military with modern protective gear, which aligns with the best international practices.
