Since the beginning of the year, the MoD’s Lethal Defense Acquisition Agency has contracted more than 11,000 electronic warfare systems, valued at over UAH 6 billion
Since January 2024, the Lethal Defense Acquisition Agency of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has signed contracts for the supply of over 11,000 electronic warfare (EW) systems with a total value exceeding 6 billion UAH. Most of these systems have already been delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Several thousand EW devices worth more than UAH 1 billion were contracted in September and October alone. These are primarily portable short-range systems that can be mounted on vehicles and equipment to protect crews from enemy FPV drones. They can also be used in positions to detect and suppress drone control channels. Additionally, several tactical EW systems were purchased.
“The purchase of more than 11,000 EW systems by the state since the beginning of the year significantly enhances the AFU's ability to counter enemy drones and protect the lives of our soldiers. Most of the purchased EW systems are produced in Ukraine, promoting national production and strengthening Ukraine's long-term military-technical independence,” said Deputy Minister of Defense Dmytro Klimenkov.
When purchasing EW systems from abroad, contracts are made directly with foreign manufacturers, which helps save funds and aligns with the Lethal Defense Acquisition Agency’s policy of reducing the number of intermediaries.
The Agency’s Director, Maryna Bezrukova, emphasized that the priority remains to swiftly meet the urgent needs of the AFU.
“Recent contracts signed in September and October, worth UAH 1 billion, provide for prompt deliveries, some of which have already been fulfilled,” stated Maryna Bezrukova.
