Sergiy Boyev: NATO–Ukraine Joint Center to focus on defense capability development in 2026

Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Sergiy Boyev underscored the importance of strengthening security and defense capabilities and promoting innovation in the activities of the NATO–Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC) in 2026.
He made this statement in his address to the Senior Supervisory Board of JATEC.
“We are committed to sustaining a high level of ambition in our efforts in 2026. Next year, we will concentrate on short-term projects designed to deliver rapid results, while simultaneously strengthening the capabilities required to achieve our strategic goals,” said Sergiy Boyev.
At its fourth meeting, the Supervisory Board recommended that NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT) endorse the JATEC Work Programme for 2026.
The priorities of the Work Programme include projects focused on innovation, the development of unmanned systems, the enhancement of analytical capabilities, the digital transformation of management processes, and the advancement of medicine, military education, and training.
The Supervisory Board also discussed sustainable financing mechanisms to support the implementation of JATEC’s planned activities.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, NATO Headquarters, the Armed Forces of Poland, the NATO International Military Staff, the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU), and other NATO structures.
