Rustem Umerov and Kristen Michal discussed cybersecurity, brigade training, and cooperation in the defense sector

Міністр оборони України Рустем Умєров провів зустріч із прем’єр-міністром Естонії Крістеном Міхалом, який прибув до Києва з робочим візитом.

Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov held a meeting with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Mihal, who arrived in Kyiv on a working visit.

The parties discussed key areas of bilateral defense cooperation, particularly cybersecurity, the training of the Ukrainian military, and the advancement of arms production.

Rustem Umerov expressed gratitude to Estonia for its extensive military, economic, and diplomatic support.

According to Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Mihal, Estonia will continue allocating 0.25% of its GDP annually in support of Ukraine. He also assured that Estonia, with its unique expertise in cybersecurity, is prepared to actively share this knowledge with Ukraine.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of training and equipping one of the Ukrainian brigades with the support of Estonian partners.

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine briefed the Estonian delegation on Ukraine's strategic defense priorities. Particular attention was given to domestic weapons production. According to Rustem Umerov, these efforts will be significantly intensified in 2025, particularly in developing long-range weapons.

“russian aggression poses a threat to all of Europe.  Only through joint efforts can we overcome this threat and restore peace. Thank you, Estonia, for your principled stance and solidarity with Ukraine,” Rustem Umerov said. 

The meeting marked another step towards strengthening defense cooperation between Ukraine and Estonia, which will contribute to enhancing regional security and addressing shared challenges.
