A new testing service called Iron Range is now available for manufacturers of weapons to use during the initial development phases

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine launched the Iron Range project in cooperation with the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian weapon and military equipment manufacturers can utilize this complimentary service to test their products as early as during the design phase.

This enables manufacturers to get timely feedback, optimize development processes, and speed up the delivery of weapons and equipment to the front lines.

The primary objective of the Iron Range is to provide manufacturers with the opportunity to test their products in real-world scenarios and assess product effectiveness with the assistance of military-research establishments.

According to Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Ivan Havryliuk, this will facilitate a focus on generating what the Armed Forces really need to be efficient in warfare.

“This project is an important step in developing the Ukrainian defense industry. It will enable weapons and equipment manufacturers to significantly shorten the time needed to test and bring their products up to the standards required for real combat operations. This is not just an opportunity for testing. It is a strategic approach to providing the Armed Forces with the weapons they need immediately and at this moment, not potentially in the future,” said Ivan Havryliuk.

The project will provide weapons manufacturers with technical expertise, testing support, advice from military experts, and assistance in developing test methodologies.

“We provide a testing ground that is accessible to manufacturers so they can engage in endeavors that are not only potentially beneficial but also currently crucial for the Armed Forces. This will also help them to get feedback as early as during the design phase,” said Hanna Hvozdyar, Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine.

The project provides access to testing facilities that are fully equipped for testing various types of military items.

To participate in the project and test their products, manufacturers have to fill out a special form available by the following link:

Based on the test results, participants receive an official protocol and conclusions from the Central Military-Scientific Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and/or the State Scientific Research Institute of Armament and Military Equipment Testing and Certification.
