MoD launches specialized training program for Support Service specialists in medical facilities

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is launching a specialized training program for military personnel to serve as Support Service specialists in medical facilities. After completing this training program focused on support and assistance, the new specialists will work in medical facilities under the Ministry of Defence’s jurisdiction.

This was announced by Colonel Oleksandr Kutkov, Head of the Central Department of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a coordination meeting at the Office of the President.

Military personnel will be trained in advanced psychological support and the particularities of delivering social assistance to wounded service members. Enrollment for the first course under the updated training program is currently underway.

“Service members who have sustained wounds, injuries, blast trauma, or illnesses while performing combat tasks require special support and assistance. This is due to temporary physical limitations and psychological exhaustion,” said Oleksandr Kutkov.

Therefore, according to him, medical facilities will employ military personnel who successfully complete the course, which focuses on the particularities of communicating with wounded service members and providing them with social support throughout their treatment.

During the first phase, Support Service specialists will be deployed to medical facilities in 24 cities across Ukraine.

Active military personnel and war veterans, including those with disabilities, are invited to participate in the training and subsequent work as Support Service specialists.

Their responsibilities include providing support and consultations on legal, social, household, and medical matters to military personnel and their families. Support Service specialists facilitate ongoing communication between service members, their families, healthcare facilities, social services, civil society organizations, and government agencies.
