High quality for a low price: our main priority is to provide the Armed Forces with everything they need on time - Hlib Kanevskyi

Even amid a full-scale war, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense maintains strong standards of openness and integrity in public procurement.

This was stated by the head of the Procurement Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense, Hlib Kanevskyi, at the inaugural meeting regarding the analysis of corruption risks during centralized rear procurement for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The event was organized by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and the Center for Integrity in the Defense Sector (CIDS), which was established at the initiative of Norway's Ministry of Defense.

According to Hleb Kanevskyi, the Ministry of Defense works closely with the National Security Agency to identify the causes that lead to corruption risks and ways to tackle them. The Ministry delegated the purchase of non-lethal goods to the Non-lethal Defense Acquisition Agency, which began conducting 90% of procurement through Prozorro auctions.

"In this system, you can even see information about direct non-lethal purchases on an urgent basis. This is an unprecedented openness for a country that is fighting a full-scale war, said Hlib Kanevskyi. - In such conditions, the Ministry of Defense is trying to expand competition between procurement participants to obtain high quality at a low price. Our main priority is to provide the Armed Forces with everything they need in a timely manner."

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention Yaroslav Lyubchenko, head of the Department for Prevention and Detection of Corruption of the Ministry of Defense Serhiy Stepanyan, head of the Department of Internal Audit of the Ministry of Defense Oleksandr Tytkovskyi, representatives of the NATO Office in Ukraine, representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the State Operator of the Rear, the CIDS Center , civil society, etc.
