Estonia allocates €3.5 million for Starlink systems for Ukraine under the IT Coalition

Estonia has approved the provision of €3.5 million to Ukraine for the procurement of Starlink satellite systems. The equipment will strengthen the stability and protection of communications for Ukrainian units, particularly those operating on the front line.

The procurement will be carried out through the IT Coalition—an alliance of 17 partner nations that supports the development of modern digital infrastructure for the Ukrainian military.

“Reliable satellite communications enable service members to stay connected and operate high-tech systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles. This is fundamental to combat effectiveness and saving lives. We are grateful to Estonia and our partners in the IT Coalition for their consistent support, which directly strengthens our Defence Forces,” said Oksana Ferchuk, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization.

This year, Estonia has already delivered military and technological assistance to Ukraine worth approximately 0.3% of its GDP. The support encompasses training programmes, the procurement of equipment, and the development of IT solutions.

The IT Coalition is one of the Capability Coalitions within the framework of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format). The Coalition supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine in the domains of IT, communications, and cybersecurity. Current members of the Coalition include Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden, and Japan, with Estonia and Luxembourg serving as lead nations.
