Deputy Defence Minister Valerii Churkin reported that over 100 new models of weapons and military equipment were codified by the Ministry of Defence within a month

In February 2025, the Ministry of Defence codified and approved over 100 new weapons and military equipment models for use in the Defence Forces. Over 90 percent of these are produced domestically.

For comparison, during the same period last year, approximately 60 weapons and military equipment models were codified, with only about a third being domestically produced.

The new weapons and military equipment codified in February include unmanned aerial systems, ammunition for UAV systems, electronic warfare systems, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) defense assets, motor vehicles, aviation equipment, and more.

Since the beginning of the year, over 10 new models of unmanned aerial systems with fiber-optic control channels have been codified and authorized for use in the Defence Forces.

“Innovative weapons are rapidly reshaping the landscape of warfare. Aerial drones conduct reconnaissance, provide situational awareness on the battlefield, and serve as a means to strike enemy targets. Presently, drones costing $500 destroy enemy targets valued at tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. To effectively counter a resource-strong aggressor, we must achieve dominance in developing and scaling new warfare tools. We must outpace the enemy in the technological race. Ukrainian drones, electronic warfare systems, reconnaissance assets, and weaponry must surpass enemy models in terms of their technical specifications. For us, the arithmetic of war involves increasing the lethality and efficiency of our means,” noted Deputy Defence Minister of Ukraine Valerii Churkin.
