Over 7,100 combat engagements and 8,700 glide bombs used by the enemy: the situation on the front line in August

In August 2026, the russian military maintained a high intensity of combat operations along the entire front line.

At the same time, enemy aircraft used the highest number of glide bombs since the start of the full-scale invasion.

This is according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Daily combat engagements averaged 230 in August

Combat activity on the front line remained intense in August, with 7,115 combat engagements recorded.

This averaged nearly 230 combat engagements per day.

The enemy also carried out more than 98,000 shelling attacks in August. In terms of the intensity of fire, August remained on par with the most intense months of 2026.

Over 8,700 russian glide bombs used by the enemy in August

Last month, russian aircraft used 8,766 glide bombs. This was the highest monthly total on record.

For comparison, the enemy used 8,266 glide bombs in June and more than 8,300 in July.

As previously reported, Ukraine expects to receive the first batch of Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft together with Meteor long-range air-to-air missiles. This will provide a major boost to the Ukrainian Air Force and enhance Ukraine’s ability to counter russian aviation and glide bombs, also known as guided bomb units.
