Denys Shmyhal: The Ministry of Defence will continue to scale up Ukrainian interceptor drone technologies

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with First Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, representatives of Brave1, the Ministry of Digital Transformation team, drone manufacturers, and Ukraine’s largest volunteer foundations.

“The state is developing the Ukrainian market for interceptor drones. Yesterday, three manufacturers were awarded contracts. In total, four contracts have been signed, amounting to over UAH 3 billion. We will continue to scale up these technologies,” emphasized the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

A key focus of the meeting was ensuring that frontline Ukrainian forces are provided with drones.

In particular, significant attention was given to interceptor drones capable of countering russian Shahed loitering munitions. According to Denys Shmyhal, the President has set a task to develop this direction, and four state contracts have already been signed with manufacturers.

“This week, talks were held with large state-owned banks about providing loans to manufacturers under state guarantees. Furthermore, the Ministry of Defence is engaged in negotiations with partners to secure funding for the procurement of such interceptors. Initial agreements have been reached. We are consolidating efforts to ensure security and a peaceful future,” noted the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
