Base service remuneration to range from 50,000 to 60,000 UAH — Denys Shmyhal discusses details of new military service contracts with the President of Ukraine
Minister of Defence Denys Shmyhal and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed new Ukrainian military service contracts during a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff.
Denys Shmyhal outlined the key provisions of the new contracts:
- Clearly defined service durations ranging from one to five years. For contracts lasting two to five years, a 12-month deferral from mobilization will be guaranteed upon contract completion;
- Increased base service remuneration of 50,000–60,000 UAH, along with additional increments, higher combat payments, and a signing bonus that rises depending on the contract’s duration.
- An option to choose the brigade and position.
The Minister of Defence emphasized that everyone will have the opportunity to sign a contract, first and foremost, active-duty service members.
Denys Shmyhal specified that the required changes to the legislation are now being drafted. It is anticipated that the system will be launched at the beginning of 2026.
“We are building a professional European military that is and will remain the main guarantee of our nation’s security. I thank all our defenders who are fighting for Ukraine and its future. Glory to Ukraine!” said Denys Shmyhal.
