95% of drones procured for the Defence Forces are Ukrainian-made

Of all UAVs procured by the Defence Procurement Agency DOT for the Defence Forces of Ukraine, 95% are manufactured in Ukraine.
Last year, procurement of unmanned systems surpassed ammunition procurement for the first time, and this trend is continuing.
How DOT-Chain Defence supports Ukraine’s drone industry
The launch of the DOT-Chain Defence weapons marketplace has played a significant role in the development of Ukraine’s drone industry. The system introduced a market model under which procurement decisions are made directly by end users — service members from combat brigades. In particular, it has:
- strengthened competition among manufacturers;
- created incentives for better service and product improvement;
- enabled manufacturers to forecast demand and scale up production.
As a result, Ukraine’s UAV industry has significantly expanded its production capacity and now accounts for the vast majority of procurements in this category.

A new approach to procuring drones
As previously reported, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has introduced a new approach to UAV procurement. Demand for drones is now generated automatically based on high-quality battlefield data — eliminating human intervention, subjective influence, and corruption risks.
At the request of military units, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine compiles a list of UAVs for procurement based solely on technical specifications — without brand names or specific manufacturers.
The UAV rating, based on combat data from digital systems — ePoints, DOT-Chain, Brave1 Market, DELTA, and Mission Control — determines which specific products should be procured for frontline units in accordance with operational tasks.
Nearly half a million UAVs and other equipment delivered through DOT-Chain Defence
In less than five months of 2026, the military has already received 485,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other equipment worth a total of UAH 31.4 billion through DOT-Chain Defence, a weapons marketplace developed by the Defence Procurement Agency DOT.
The principle behind the marketplace is simple: the military chooses, and the state provides. Defence Procurement Agency DOT handles contracting, payments, and delivery oversight. The entire process is digital, eliminating paperwork and lengthy approval procedures.
The average time from placing an order to receiving an in-stock item is nine days.
DOT-Chain Defence is also integrated with Brave1 Market, allowing the military to order additional drones and equipment using ePoints under the “Army of Drones Bonus” program.
