Ukraine presents its defence industry projects requiring funding under the SAFE initiative

Представники країн-членів ЄС та представники ЄС презентували свої оборонні програми або сфери зацікавлення для спільної закупівлі, зокрема за рахунок кредиту в межах ініціативи Європейського Союзу SAFE (Security Action for Europe)

First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Sergiy Boyev, participated in a meeting of the EU Defence Readiness Task Force at the level of EU Defence Policy Directors.

Held in Brussels, the meeting marked a step towards implementing the European Security Strategy and the continent’s rearmament plan. Representatives of EU member states and EU institutions presented their defence programmes and areas of interest for joint procurement, including those eligible for funding under the European Union’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) initiative.

Ukraine also presented its defence industry projects and outlined needs that international partners could address. Sergiy Boyev outlined initiatives focused on the production of drones, munitions, and missiles that may be financed under the SAFE initiative.

These initiatives aim to equip Ukraine with essential battlefield weapons and bolster Europe’s overall defense capabilities. Another objective is to ensure long-term contracts for Ukraine’s defense industry, extending through 2030.

“Ukraine possesses high-quality, battle-tested weapons. That said, we still require modern European weaponry, including air defence systems, missiles, ammunition, artillery, and armored platforms. We stand ready for mutually beneficial cooperation toward integrating Ukraine’s defence industry into the European ecosystem,” said Sergiy Boyev, First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

EU member states also shared their vision for the further development of the SAFE initiative and presented projects related to UAVs, ground-based weaponry, and aviation. Partners expressed interest in developing joint initiatives with Ukraine in the areas of unmanned aerial systems and missile weaponry.
