Ukraine and the Netherlands launch joint production of long-range drones under the ‘Build with Ukraine’ initiative
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, met in Kyiv with the Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, Ruben Brekelmans.
“We appreciate this visit on a day when russia carried out massive attacks on our energy and civilian infrastructure. I briefed my counterpart on the consequences of the overnight strikes,” noted the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
The parties held an in-depth discussion on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed in the presence of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“The agreement provides for the launch of joint production of deep-strike UAVs in the Netherlands, involving €110 million in investment under the ‘Build with Ukraine’ initiative,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The delegations also focused on Ukraine’s key defence priorities: increasing the production of drones for the frontline and for the protection of cities, enhancing the long-range capabilities of the Defence Forces, and intensifying sanctions pressure on the aggressor.
Denys Shmyhal highlighted the critical role of the Netherlands in strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities, including support under the PURL initiative, the transfer of F-16 aircraft and air defence systems, as well as assistance in developing defence production.
“I sincerely thank the government and people of the Netherlands, and Mr Brekelmans personally, for the significant contribution to our joint victory,” concluded Denys Shmyhal.
