Ukraine and Lithuania strengthen cooperation in drone, ammunition, and electronic warfare production
Today in Kyiv, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin, and a Lithuanian delegation led by Lithuanian National Defense Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas held a meeting.
The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding that formalizes cooperation between Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, Lithuania's Ministry of National Defense, Lithuania's Ministry of Economy and Innovation, and Ukraine's Ministry of Strategic Industries.
"The Memorandum provides for joint production of UAVs and their components, ammunition and spare parts, electronic warfare equipment, and the development of advanced technologies. I am deeply grateful to Lithuania and personally to Mr. Kasčiūnas for the comprehensive support of Ukraine. Lithuania is our true friend, helping us diplomatically, economically, and most importantly, militarily," said Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
In addition to signing the memorandum, the parties discussed specific plans for 2025 to further expand military assistance to Ukraine. Ukrainian intelligence representatives provided Lithuanian partners with an update on the current situation on frontline and jointly analyzed potential aggressive plans of the enemy for the autumn-winter period.
"Today we see russia receiving assistance from dictatorial regimes, including manpower from North Korea. But I am confident that with reliable partners like Lithuania, we will overcome the aggressor," summarized Ukraine's Defense Minister.
