Ukraine and Germany step up efforts to accelerate the delivery of air defence munitions

Ukraine and Germany are advancing efforts to expedite the delivery of critical air defence munitions. The focus of support is on PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems, munitions for IRIS-T, and the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism.
Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held a conversation with German Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius. The parties coordinated their efforts ahead of the next Ramstein-format meeting.
Delivering PAC-3 missiles through JUMPSTART
A key topic of the discussion was support for the delivery of PAC-3 missiles through the JUMPSTART mechanism. Mykhailo Fedorov stressed that Germany’s leadership plays an important role in accelerating the provision of these munitions by partner nations.
The two sides also explored opportunities to channel previously announced partner funding into critical areas of support.

Critical needs of the Defence Forces of Ukraine
Ukraine is successfully implementing the defence strategy it has presented to its partners. Ukraine’s Defence Forces are disrupting russian logistics and conducting deep strikes against targets that weaken the aggressor’s military potential.
Ukraine now has a window of opportunity over the next six to eight months. This is a period when the initiative remains with the Defence Forces of Ukraine, and there is an opportunity to bring a just peace closer, with Ukraine in a position of strength.
This is why it is essential to rapidly direct support towards the areas that will have the greatest effect:
- Patriot missiles through the JUMPSTART mechanism;
- Extended-range munitions through the Czech Initiative;
- PURL;
- Ukrainian-made fibre-optic-controlled FPV drones and middle-strike capabilities.
The parties also discussed expediting deliveries of IRIS-T munitions and advancing the anti-ballistic initiative.
The discussion also covered the prospects for scaling up drone-assault units. Germany was the first to support this initiative, which is already strengthening Ukrainian operations.
Mykhailo Fedorov expressed gratitude to Germany for its support, leadership, and commitment to coordinating partner efforts to support Ukraine.
