The NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Centre (JATEC) has been officially launched in Bydgoszcz, Poland. At the inauguration ceremony, the Center was declared to have reached initial operational capability.
“We aim to establish structured cooperation in areas critical to us in addressing battlefield challenges. JATEC will focus primarily on resolving specific challenges,” highlighted Sergiy Boyev, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for European Integration.
During the inauguration, Olha Stefanishyna, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine and Minister of Justice, expressed appreciation to NATO and Polish partners for their efforts in enabling the establishment of JATEC, the first-ever joint institution between Ukraine and NATO.
The Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Radmila Šekerinska, the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, Admiral Pierre Vandier, and the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Poland, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, also addressed the Centre, conveying their greetings and strategic perspectives.
“JATEC will facilitate greater interoperability between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO, marking the first joint structure of our country and the Alliance to be directly subordinate to NATO’s Strategic Command for Transformation. JATEC bolsters Ukraine's defense capabilities and reaffirms the value of international collaboration with partners,” noted Colonel Oleh Apostol, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Colonel Valeriy Vyshnivskyi, Director of Program Implementation at the Joint Centre, outlined the key focus areas of JATEC.
“JATEC identifies, analyzes, and incorporates lessons from russia's war against Ukraine into NATO's strategy, policy, and operations. This has played and will continue to play a key role in upholding Ukraine's sovereignty and ensuring lasting regional stability,” he said.
“Achieving initial operational capability of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Centre (JATEC) is a historic milestone in Ukraine's integration into the Alliance. The inaugural ceremony signifies the successful culmination of years of dedicated efforts by the teams from NATO, Ukraine, and Poland. Professional legal expertise, the swift establishment of new organizational systems, and the engagement of specialists—this is what JATEC is all about,” said Sergiy Boyev, a member of the JATEC Senior Supervisory Board, which convened prior to the Center’s opening.
