The Ministry of Defence proposes adopting the 'Danish Model' for financing manufacturers of non-lethal support equipment

Міноборони працює над масштабуванням «данської моделі», яка передбачає фінансування виробників тилового майна за кошти іноземних партнерів

The Ministry of Defence is enhancing funding mechanisms for non-lethal support equipment suppliers with international partners' assistance. A crucial strategy involves scaling up the ‘Danish Model,’ which may significantly accelerate the provision of non-lethal support equipment to the Armed Forces.

Glib Kanevskyi, Director of the Procurement Policy Department at the Ministry of Defence, made this statement during a videoconference at a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA).

“This mechanism has demonstrated its effectiveness and serves as a model of innovation in procurement practices under martial law. The approach, known as the 'Danish model,' involves foreign governments directly funding Ukrainian defense companies, enabling both the enhancement of military capabilities and the strengthening of the economy. This approach has already facilitated the financing of critical weaponry production, including the Bohdana self-propelled artillery systems. We aim to expand this successful experience to new projects with partner nations, further accelerating our path to victory,” emphasized Glib Kanevskyi.

The Director of the Procurement Policy Department at the Ministry of Defence emphasized the importance of implementing recommendations from the Strategic Defense Procurement Review, particularly establishing a registry of Ukrainian defense manufacturers and their certification within the NSPA register.

Glib Kanevskyi also highlighted Ukraine's interest in joining new partnerships formed within the NSPA framework and expressed the country's readiness for further collaboration to strengthen its defense capabilities.
