The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine deepens cooperation with NATO in the domain of scientific research
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the NATO Science and Technology Organization (STO) will coordinate scientific research in the military domain.
“Representatives of scientific institutions, military higher education establishments, as well as military units and entities from the Ministry of Defence will be involved in these efforts,” informed Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.
According to him, representatives from military, educational, and scientific establishments will, in particular, help to develop a joint program of activities and participate in meetings of the NATO Science and Technology Board (STB).
“This represents an additional opportunity to enhance our efforts in security and defense. The expertise of Ukrainian scientists, combined with the modern innovative approaches of NATO member states' experts, is expected to deliver a high-quality result for mutual application in combat operations,” commented Volodymyr Mirnenko, the Head of the Department of Military Education and Science.
He added that the focus is not only on the military-technical and technological aspects but also on the broader development of military science as a systemic domain of knowledge—exploring the laws and nature of war, the preparation of armed forces and the state for wars, as well as the forms and methods of conducting warfare.
The STO is a NATO subsidiary entity established to meet the scientific and technological needs of the Alliance and partner countries through the exchange of scientific knowledge, technological development, and innovation.
