The Ministry of Defence has submitted applications for seven higher military educational institutions to join the European Security and Defence College
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine continues its efforts to integrate Euro-Atlantic standards into the professional military education system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As part of these initiatives, the Ministry has sought the inclusion of seven higher military educational institutions in the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) network.
In particular, this includes:
The Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy;
The Zhytomyr Military Institute named after S.P. Korolyov;
The Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;
The Kruty Heroes Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technology;
The Military Institute for Tank Troops of the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute";
The Institute of Military Law of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University;
The Naval Institute of the National University "Odesa Maritime Academy.
“Integration into the ESDC network unlocks new, unique opportunities for our military education system. This will enhance the professional training of security and defense specialists based on the best European practices and strengthen Ukraine’s cooperation with partner countries,” emphasized Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.
The applications will be considered at the ESDC Executive Academic Board meeting on February 18–19, 2025, in Brussels.
Reference information: The European Security and Defence College (ESDC) was established in 2005 to deliver strategic-level education within the framework of the Common Security and Defence Policy and to foster a European security culture. The College operates as a network that brings together civilian and military institutions, academies, universities, and other organizations involved in security and defense policy within the EU.
