The Ministry of Defence has designated reserve centers to provide assistance and support to service members released from captivity
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has designated two reserve centers where comprehensive support will be provided to military personnel released from captivity. The corresponding decision was adopted to enforce the law on social protection for military personnel.
By order of the Ministry of Defence, two additional MoD healthcare facilities in the central region have been designated that must be prepared to provide assistance to service members who were held in captivity. These facilities will offer defenders both medical and psychological support.
“We are currently developing a support system for our service members who have survived captivity. Each reintegration center will have specialists to ensure an individualized approach to rehabilitation, covering everything from medical examinations to psychological adaptation,” said Nikita Nikitenko, acting State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence.
The decision is based on the recently enacted Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine to Ensure the Social Protection Rights of Military Personnel and Police Officers.” The document stipulates mandatory reintegration measures and post-isolation support for service members released from captivity.
The centers will be capable of promptly addressing the needs of service members released from captivity, including those from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence's Intelligence Agency, and the State Special Transport Service.
