The Defence Procurement Agency delivered 154 pickup trucks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Defence Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has already delivered 154 Great Wall Wingle 5 pickup trucks to the military following a procurement made via the Prozorro system. The vehicle meets all technical requirements approved by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence. The Ministry of Defence has given the green light for the use of pickup trucks and similar vehicles built on this specific chassis, which are currently in active service with the units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

In the current setting, mobility is a key factor in the successful completion of combat missions. Pickup trucks for the military are an integral part of this strategic approach. Efficient road transport is indispensable for the functioning of mobile groups, delivery of cargo and ammunition, and the evacuation of the injured,” said Deputy Defence Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.

Eleven bidders competed for the procurement of pickup trucks. The supplier who offered UAH 996.000 per vehicle, including VAT, won the tender. The total value of the contracts is UAH 153 million, of which about 40 million UAH will be returned to the state budget in the form of duties, taxes, and fees. 

“When acquiring pickup trucks, it was essential for us to ensure that the vehicles satisfy all the requirements set by the military while also promoting strong competition and the most efficient use of every hryvnia," said Maryna Bezrukova, Director of the Defence Procurement Agency.

The pickup trucks come equipped with a Euro 4-compliant 2L diesel engine with 143 hp of power paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive. Up to 5 people can be transported in the vehicles along with cargo weighing up to 1 ton, and they have the capability to tow a trailer weighing 0.85 tons. The cargo bed can accommodate up to 4 persons and additional equipment for weapons.
