Stanislav Haider: "Interoperability with NATO is our national interest"
In an interview with the Kyiv Post, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defence spoke about progress in achieving interoperability with NATO and implementing joint projects.
"My department is working on the concept of the Roadmap for Interoperability with NATO, the activities of the adapted NATO-Ukraine Annual National Programme and the implementation of joint medium and long-term projects. And all this is based on NATO standards," said Stanislav Haider.
According to him, 322 NATO standards have already been implemented and another 50 are in the process.
"Quoting the Minister of Defence, I would like to say that the Armed Forces must meet all NATO criteria, and for this purpose there must be changes in order to achieve interoperability," the Deputy Minister of Defence stressed.
One of the most important projects is the launch of the first joint institution with NATO - the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC).
"The Centre will provide joint analysis of security challenges and help improve training and military education. Ukrainians and our colleagues from NATO member states will work together on joint capacity-building within the Centre," Stanislav Haider said.
He also stressed that Ukraine will not only be a recipient, but also a provider of valuable experience: "Our contribution to the Centre's activities is primarily related to the ten-year experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war, innovations and practices we have developed during the full-scale Russian invasion. And this experience is already changing NATO standards, shaping the ability to respond to defence challenges and threats".
