Sergiy Boyev discusses countering Shahed drones and economic pressure on russia with Norway’s Defence Ministry delegation

Sergiy Boyev, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, held a meeting with a delegation from Norway’s Ministry of Defence. He outlined Ukraine’s current challenges in resisting russia’s aggression.
A representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine provided an update on the situation at the front and on russia’s plans to continue the war. The Norwegian delegation was briefed on the current threats posed by the aggressor and on the pace of development of its military industry.
“We do not believe in the sincerity of russia’s intentions to end the war, as we see them expanding their capabilities. At the same time, our priority is to do everything to ensure that the Defence Forces remain fully equipped next year,” noted Deputy Minister of Defence Sergiy Boyev.

He expressed gratitude to Norway for its ongoing support of Ukraine’s defence capability and underscored the importance of sustained contributions to the PURL initiative. According to him, U.S. weaponry is contributing to repelling large-scale missile and drone attacks.
The Deputy Minister also noted that it is essential to ensure sufficient funding for Ukraine’s defence industry to manufacture the required quantities of interceptor drones, electronic warfare (EW) systems and other innovative products.
“Norway is an important partner for us in this area of cooperation,” Sergiy Boyev underscored.
The Ukrainian side emphasised that ending the war directly depends on russia’s ability to finance its aggression, and therefore, sanctions must continue to be applied through various measures.
