Robots at work: Defence Forces of Ukraine more than triple their use of UGVs
The number of unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) missions has increased 3.3-fold since the beginning of 2026. In August alone, the UGVs carried out more than 25,000 logistics and evacuation missions on the front line.
These figures are based on data from the DELTA combat system.
Every UGV mission can potentially help protect the lives and health of Ukrainian service members. In the most dangerous areas, robots take the place of people, delivering ammunition, water, and food and evacuating wounded defenders.
As of early September, DELTA had recorded about 112,000 logistics and evacuation missions conducted by UGVs since the beginning of 2026.
The number of these missions has increased each month:
- January: 7,511;
- February: 7,960;
- March: 9,072;
- April: 11,028;
- May: 14,059;
- June: 16,664;
- July: 19,940;
- August: 25,143.
Thus, in the last month of summer, the number of UGV logistics and evacuation missions was 3.3 times the January figure.
As previously reported, the Defence Procurement Agency DOT announced its first tender for the procurement of UGVs based on the technical and tactical specifications defined by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
