Mykhailo Fedorov and the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires discuss cooperation on air defense and drones

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov held a meeting with Julie S. Davis, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine.
He thanked the United States for its comprehensive military and diplomatic support for Ukraine and for its readiness to deepen cooperation, highlighting in particular the importance of the PURL initiative, which supplies the Defence Forces with critical weapons.
Mykhailo Fedorov spoke about ongoing work with partners to extend PURL and another U.S. mechanism, JUMPSTART, which ensures the long-term supply of critical U.S.-made weapons.
“To protect the sky, it is crucial to have, as soon as possible, a clear forecast of air defense missile deliveries for this year and to build reliable supplies for the years to come,” he stated.
The sides discussed the organization of joint analytics on the use of key U.S. systems, including Patriot, HIMARS, and others, drawing on battlefield data to enable both countries to jointly advance these systems and improve their effectiveness.
Another priority discussed was laser-guided artillery munitions, which significantly enhance accuracy and depth of engagement. Ukraine is counting on U.S. support in this area.
“We also gave particular attention to implementing the large-scale Drone Deal. We are working to enable U.S. partners to directly test Ukrainian drones without unnecessary bureaucracy. I am grateful for the constructive dialogue and the consistent support for Ukraine,” Mykhailo Fedorov said in conclusion.
