Ministry of Defence: UAH 7 Million in suspended payments restored to military personnel
Following intervention by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, financial payments to several military personnel, which had been unjustifiably suspended, have been reinstated. The total amount of restored payments amounts to nearly 7 million UAH.
For instance, it was determined that six service members undergoing medical treatment abroad had their payments halted due to the failure of unit officials to submit required documentation in a timely manner for remote medical evaluations by the Military Medical Commission (MMC).
Additionally, 46 service members failed to undergo an MMC evaluation over a two-month period. They remained under the commander’s disposition without investigating the reasons for the prolonged medical assessment process. This resulted in a significant reduction in their payments.
The Ministry of Defence promptly addressed the situation—the Central Department for the Protection of Service Members' Rights issued formal requests to the military unit, the Land Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the military hospital. As a result, the military unit prepared all necessary documentation, enabling remote medical evaluations to be conducted and payments to be restored.
“This situation serves as a clear example of how timely intervention and adherence to legal standards can restore the rights of military personnel. The payments to military personnel were reinstated through a thorough investigation and coordination with command structures. We will continue closely monitoring such issues to ensure proper service remuneration for our defenders. “The military should be focused on fighting the enemy, not bureaucracy,” stated Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.
As of today, UAH 3.9 million has already been paid to service members, with the remaining almost UAH 3 million to be disbursed throughout March.
