Ministry of Defence launches joint weapons production with international partners

Міноборони запускає спільне виробництво зброї разом з міжнародними партнерами

At the initiative of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, a package of draft laws has been developed to introduce a special legal framework that will provide enterprises of the Ukrainian defence industry with additional resources and opportunities to scale up and develop production.

This is primarily about establishing new factories and production sites — both on Ukrainian territory and abroad, in the countries participating in the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (so called Ramstein format).

“Ukraine has invaluable experience in modern warfare, effective domestic weapons and military equipment, and the ability to test everything directly on the battlefield. That is why we are launching a joint weapons production programme with international partners — both in Ukraine and in countries participating in the Ramstein format,” said Rustem Umerov, Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

This is a new model of defence-industrial cooperation, in which Ukraine is an equal partner and a player on the global defence market. All weapons produced at these facilities will be supplied to our Defence Forces of Ukraine until the end of the war.

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, together with the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, presented key provisions of four draft laws to enterprises of the national defence-industrial complex. These laws introduce amendments to tax, customs, and budget legislation, as well as the Criminal Code, and are aimed at developing the industry and enhancing production security.
