In May, the Ministry of Defence authorized 175 new weapons and military equipment models for operational use

In May 2026, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine codified and authorized 175 new weapons and military equipment models for operational use in the Defence Forces of Ukraine, demonstrating a high operational tempo.
Nearly 93% of all newly authorized systems were developed and manufactured by Ukrainian defense companies. This reflects the rapid growth and increasing self-sufficiency of Ukraine’s defense industry.
Priorities: drones, munitions, and armored vehicles
The largest share of the newly authorized systems consists of advanced military technological capabilities that have a direct impact on the battlefield:
- Unmanned aerial systems (UAS) – nearly 60 models were codified. Among the Ukrainian-developed systems authorized for operational use are Tin, Tur, Mamba, Palii, D’Artanian, and Lupynis;
- Ammunition – more than 40 new types of ammunition were introduced into service;
- Armored vehicles – the fleet was expanded with 18 new models designed to enhance personnel protection and mobility.
Important note: All systems in these three categories, without exception, originated from Ukrainian companies.
Technological and logistical reinforcement of the Defence Forces
In addition to strike and reconnaissance systems, considerable attention was devoted to force protection and supporting frontline sustainment. A significant share of the newly authorized systems includes:
- advanced electronic warfare (EW) and signals/electronic intelligence (SIGINT/ELINT) systems for countering enemy drones;
- specialized vehicles;
- unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) – including Hnom, Prymara-Killer, Vepr, Pliushch+, and Ratel X, which enable combat and evacuation missions to be carried out remotely while minimizing risks to personnel;
- advanced engineering equipment and modern rear-support equipment aimed at improving logistics.
The introduction of these systems into service will significantly enhance the combat effectiveness of the Defence Forces of Ukraine and help save the lives of our defenders.
