In 2025, UAH 2.1 billion will be allocated for improved nutrition for wounded service members in civilian medical facilities

Improved nutrition for service members in civilian healthcare facilities will now follow a unified payment mechanism and a simplified implementation process. The corresponding resolution drafted by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Organizing meals for service members during their treatment and rehabilitation will be the responsibility of healthcare facilities. A vital change also involved introducing a unified payment system for all healthcare facilities.

Furthermore, the new procedure introduces a simplified reporting system for healthcare facilities. Payment for services will be processed based on submitted reports, significantly streamlining document flow and expediting the settlement process.

In 2025, the government plans to allocate over UAH 2.1 billion to ensure defenders receive high-quality meals in civilian healthcare facilities. This will ensure consistent nutrition standards for all wounded service members, as applied in military medical facilities.

“We are committed to providing proper care for wounded defenders, regardless of the facility where they receive medical treatment. Following introducing the improved nutrition mechanism last month, we observed tangible results and identified opportunities for further improvement. In 2025, we plan to allocate over UAH 2 billion to ensure that all wounded service members receive high-quality nutrition, consistent with the standards of military medical facilities,” said Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.

To recap, in November, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved Resolution No. 1299 dated November 15, 2024, which enhances the mechanism for providing improved nutrition to service members in healthcare facilities of all ownership forms.
