How service members can check the option for a duty station transfer: new instructions on Army+

A new instruction on how to request a change of duty station is now available on the Army+ app. It enables service members to determine whether they are eligible for transfer to another unit – and, if so, what steps they need to take.
The instruction is interactive. It includes a brief test with questions that military personnel must answer before starting the transfer process. These include:
- how long they have served in their current unit
- what type of unit it is
- which unit they wish to transfer to
- whether they are fit for combat service according to the conclusion of a Military Medical Commission
- whether they hold an officer rank.
If the transfer is possible, a step-by-step plan will be provided, outlining the necessary actions. It includes a recommendation letter template and samples of military documents required when submitting the report. It will also specify whether the commander's additional approval is needed. If the transfer is not possible, the system will state the reason why it cannot be initiated at the moment.
“We are building a new type of communication in the military. When all process are not bureaucratic, but understandable and humane. Changing duty station is no exception. Many service members had questions about the process, so we developed a test-based instruction to guide them through the necessary steps for transfer,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Development.

To date, over 60,000 service members have used the duty station transfer service. Of these, 40,000 have received approval and have already transferred or are preparing to transfer to a new place of service.
The most common reason why transfer reports are rejected by the Personnel Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is that military personnel make poor-quality photocopies or do not attach all the required pages of documents. However, such mistakes are becoming less frequent thanks to the updated submission process in Army+, which now specifies the pages or document sections that must be added.
