Meeting of the Working group of member states of the Demining Capability Coalition

For the first time, Ukraine hosted a meeting of the Working Group of nations participating in the Demining Capability Coalition — an international platform that coordinates support for our country in both combat and humanitarian demining activities. The event brought together 43 delegates representing 14 countries and 4 international organizations.

Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, Head of the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, emphasized that holding the meeting in Ukraine was of strategic importance. The delegations had the opportunity to see the Coalition’s results firsthand at sites where demining programs, personnel training, and logistical support are being implemented.

In addition, partners were briefed on two Implementation Plans for the development of demining capabilities for 2026, prepared for the State Special Transport Service and the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Participants also discussed equipment deliveries and procurement for 2025–2026 and reviewed the capabilities of the demining units of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the meeting, the sides highlighted that by the end of 2025, Ukraine aims to build initial demining capabilities by training and equipping eight battalions with modern equipment, enabling over 450 teams to perform demining tasks in extremely difficult combat conditions.

Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the following data:

  • Nearly 3,990 personnel received training with the support of the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine), Tetra Tech (United States), Mriya Aid (Canada), and Spain;
  • Equipment valued at over €408 million was supplied by partner nations and organizations — Germany, Lithuania, Denmark, Slovakia, Finland, Iceland, Tetra Tech (United States), the United Nations Office for Project Services (with funding from the Netherlands), and Mriya Aid (Canada);
  • Equipment worth more than €111 million was procured using contributions from Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, and Denmark — including off-road vehicles, ambulances, demolition vehicles, personal anti-drone devices, night-vision equipment, counter-drone systems, mine detectors, trucks, explosive ordnance disposal kits, armored personnel carriers, mine-clearing rollers, and other assets.
