Evgeniy Khmara officially presents the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mykhailo Drapatyi and Chief of the General Staff Ihor Skibiuk
Acting Minister of Defence Evgeniy Khmara has presented the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, and the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Ihor Skibiuk, to the senior leadership of the General Staff.
Evgeniy Khmara thanked General Oleksandr Syrskyi and Lieutenant General Andrii Hnatov for their work during a difficult time for the country.
Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi spoke of the great responsibility and the challenges facing him and the entire Ukrainian military as it repels russia's full-scale invasion.
Working for results, he said, calls for the closest possible unity.
Mykhailo Drapatyi named his priorities as:
- building up air defense capabilities;
- developing and scaling up the unmanned component;
- increasing lethality against the enemy;
- cutting unnecessary bureaucracy.
He added that in his work with personnel, the emphasis would be on competence and humanity.
Earlier, Evgeniy Khmara held a meeting with Mykhailo Drapatyi, after which he said that Ukraine would continue to step up its strike and technological pressure on russia. The priorities are supporting the front line, developing long-range capabilities, scaling up technology, asymmetric solutions and doing everything possible to preserve the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.
Evgeniy Khmara and Mykhailo Drapatyi agreed on open cooperation and on resolving all issues in the interests of the state and Ukrainian soldiers.
