Drones and air defence: Mykhailo Fedorov discusses defence assistance with the United Kingdom and Norway

On the sidelines of the Ramstein-format meeting, Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov met with UK Secretary of State for Defence Dan Jarvis to discuss sustaining and scaling up drone deliveries for the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
The discussion also addressed the possibility of funding such deliveries through proceeds generated from frozen russian assets. This would allow resources derived from the aggressor to be used to strengthen Ukraine’s defence.
Mykhailo Fedorov thanked the United Kingdom for its steadfast support for Ukraine and its readiness to develop practical solutions that have a tangible impact on the battlefield.
Norway: munitions, F-16 support, and Drone Deal
During a meeting with Norway’s Minister of Defence Tore Onshuus Sandvik, the parties discussed preparations for new support to Ukraine.
Norway is preparing a delivery of extended-range munitions in response to a request from the military that was conveyed to the President of Ukraine during his most recent visit to the front line.

Norway will also help finance F-16 maintenance support. Ukraine is grateful for these decisions.
The parties also discussed the details of industrial cooperation under a potential Drone Deal initiative. Such an agreement could lay the foundation for a win-win partnership.
The meeting with the Norwegian side also covered the possibility of directing funding towards priority drone categories for the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
Another important area of cooperation is a joint European anti-ballistic project.
Mykhailo Fedorov also highlighted the importance of contributions to the JUMPSTART mechanism for supplying Ukraine with missiles for air defence systems.
