“The Roadmap was developed based on NATO’s Air Power Doctrine – a strategic document outlining the principles and methods of employing the Alliance’s Air Forces for security and deterrence. This doctrine is central to NATO’s defence strategy and serves as the basis for training new member states and partners,” said Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

According to him, the purpose of the Roadmap is to strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities to:

  • employ air power in joint operations and operations within NATO activities;
  • deliver effective strikes against the enemy during the ongoing aggression;
  • prevent the enemy’s advance and deter it in the future.

The Roadmap is structured in accordance with the key functions defined by NATO’s Doctrine.

“Thanks to this document, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will gain the capability to deter enemy aggression by being able to employ air power according to NATO standards,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
