Denys Shmyhal discussed a new mechanism for supporting Ukraine with the Defence Ministers of Sweden and the Netherlands

Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, held talks with Minister of Defence of Sweden, Pål Jonson, and Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, Ruben Brekelmans.
“We are engaging additional partners in the new Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism. During a phone call with Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson, I thanked his country for joining the PURL initiative. Sweden, along with Norway and Denmark, is contributing $486 million to the initiative,” said Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, this tool – implemented by the United States, Ukraine, and NATO countries – enables NATO Allies to fund the supply of U.S.-origin weapons and technologies to Ukraine through voluntary contributions.
Yesterday, the Netherlands announced a contribution of €500 million to PURL. The funds will be used to procure U.S.-made weapons, including missiles for Patriot systems. I thanked Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans in today's conversation,” noted the Defence Minister of Ukraine.
In addition, the Ministers of Defence of Ukraine and the Netherlands discussed prospects for defence-industrial cooperation. Both sides expressed interest in establishing joint production facilities to strengthen the defence capabilities of both countries and ensure an uninterrupted supply of weapons for the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
“Support for the Ukrainian army, long-term large-scale projects, and strengthened sanctions against the aggressor are the path to a just and lasting peace. We are grateful to our partners for their steadfast support during the war and their contribution to strengthening our defence capabilities. This is the assistance that saves Ukrainian lives,” emphasised Denys Shmyhal.
