The announcement was made by Rolandas Kiškis, coordinator of the Demining Capability Coalition at the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania, during the 22nd meeting of the Working Group of Coalition member states, held in Lviv.
International support for Ukraine’s demining efforts is expanding
At the same time, participating countries plan to secure an additional €142 million in 2027 to support mine action activities in Ukraine.
Particular attention during the Coalition meeting was devoted to international assistance for developing Ukraine’s national demining capabilities, primarily through technical equipment and personnel training aligned with the requirements of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Demining Ukraine: the goal is to restore safe living conditions
The Ukrainian delegation was led by Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, Head of the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety and Head of the Secretariat of the National Mine Action Agency.
Ukraine faces the task of restoring safe living conditions for its people, rehabilitating affected areas, and laying the foundation for the country’s future development. Achieving this goal is impossible without an effective mine action system and the continued development of demining capabilities.
